Downed Power Line Sparks Power Outage, Brush Fire

At least 890 LADWP customers were knocked offline after a traffic collision caused a downed power line in the Hollywood Hills.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — A traffic collision in the Hollywood hills knocked down a power pole Thursday afternoon, causing a small brush fire and a power outage in the area. The accident happened around 8336 W. Mulholland Drive near Laurel Canyon Avenue around 4:02 p.m.

Firefighters worked around the electrical hazard and managed to contain the fire to about a quarter-acre, stopping forward progress in 19 minutes. Paramedics were also on scene to treat the car's driver/

About 900 LADWP customers were taken offline due to the incident. Crews are currently en route to the scene, and power is expected to be restored by 8:30 p.m.

All lanes were closed at Mulholland Avenue and Laurel Canyon Avenue while crews investigated.
